“I trusted the ladies of Gown Boutique and they reassured me that the dress would turn out beautiful so I went with my instincts and ordered the dress. When I got to my first fitting I could not have been happier – the dress was absolutely stunning!”
GBC: What did you love most about your gown?
Sarah: I loved how the dress made me feel! I loved the delicate lace bodice and the soft flowing skirt. Growing up an athlete I never pictured myself in anything so fancy. I would have never guessed that the that the dress I picked would be so different than anything my fiancé (or anyone) had seen me in before. I loved how amazingly comfortable the gown was too, I never once had to worry about eating too much cake and I was able to easily dance the night away!
GBC: Share a memorable moment from your gown shopping experience:
Sarah: I remember trying on quite a few dresses and not really feeling like any of them were exactly me. Before I decided to go home, the ladies of Gown Boutique threw out a wild idea. They suggested I try creating my own dress by mixing the tops with the skirts they had available. I remember feeling hesitant about wearing two separate pieces but decided to give it a shot. After finding the perfect top and bottom, the ladies, knowing how I felt about a two piece wedding dress, worked with the seamstress to help combine the pieces so that I would feel more comfortable dancing on my wedding night.
GBC: What’s the most memorable moment from your wedding night?
Sarah: *There are two most memorable!*
First, being able to share my wedding night with my mother’s birthday was so special for me. I always knew I wanted to get married in the fall but the date we picked was also my mother’s birthday. I even surprised her by having a beautiful birthday cake made for her!
Second, my now husband decided to purchase this tandem bike back in college and it sort of became an inside joke. Well we decided to fix the bike up and use it as our getaway vehicle after the wedding. It seemed like a great idea at the time but riding a tandem bike in a wedding gown in a lot harder than it looks. We somehow managed to get on the bike and down the driveway under a bunch of sparklers in one piece. It was certainly an adventure I’ll never forget.
GBC: Anything else you want to share about planning your wedding or wearing your gown?
Sarah: I had no idea what the dress would actually turn out like so I remember feeling terribly nervous prior to my first fitting. I ordered my gown based on two sample pieces that I tried on together in the store. The skirt I tried on in the store was a blush color but I decided to order it in ivory instead. I also had the seamstress sew both the top and skirt together as well as add in a liner so that the top had more structure to it. I trusted the ladies of Gown Boutique and they reassured me that the dress would turn out beautiful so I went with my instincts and ordered the dress. When I got to my first fitting I could not have been happier – the dress was absolutely stunning!
