Britani and Kesha came into the boutique wanting gowns that would compliment each other. With the help of our amazing bridal stylist and Britani’s family, these two lovely brides were able to both say “YES!” to their dream wedding dress on the same day…without even knowing who got what!

What were some of your “must haves” for your wedding dress?

It was really important to us that our dresses be different, but compliment each other. We were concerned with us both wearing white we would look too similar.

Was your vision the same as the wedding dress you choose?
Britani: No! The dresses on my Pinterest board were all very detailed. I wanted beading and bling. I saw my dress on a mannequin and knew it was the one right away.

Kesha: I came in thinking I wanted lace and bling, but fell in love with something totally different.

What did you love most about your gown?
Britani: I loved that my dress was simple, but elegant. The addition of the belt added just the right amount of detail. The material was perfect for our beach wedding.

Kesha: I loved that I didn’t have to wear a bra or Spanx! I was so comfortable in my wedding dress and that was really important to me. We got married in the summer and had to be in our dresses for hours. Also, the best part of my dress was the pockets!

How did you know you had found your wedding dress?
Britani: As soon as I saw it on the mannequin, I knew it was the one. When I tried it on, I fell in love.

Kesha: My dress was hanging in the room with a bunch of other dresses for try on, but it was too small. I didn’t want to try to squeeze into a dress that I knew wouldn’t fit so I kept trying on dresses that fit well. I couldn’t take my eyes off of what ended up being my wedding dress! Janet helped me into it, and although it didn’t fit properly, I knew that once I got it in my size, it would be perfect, and it was!

Most memorable moment from your wedding dress shopping experience:
Britani: Knowing that my fiancé was in the next room picking out her dress as well.

Kesha: Britani had already chosen her dress, and I was about to give up so I asked Janet to get Britani for me. Instead of getting Britani, Janet managed to squeeze me into my wedding dress! She turned what could have been a sad moment into a happy one. I said “YES!” to the dress!

Most memorable moment from your wedding day:
Britani: The first look.

Kesha: It was a cloudy day, and we were worried about rain all day. I at the start of the ceremony, we had a poem read for my mom who is deceased. As the poem was being ready, the clouds parted, and the sun came through. It was beautiful. It went away soon after, but everyone managed to get a picture. It was very moving. The getting ready process was rough for me, and I was upset at the start of our wedding, so this moment helped.

Anything else you want to share about planning your wedding or your Gown Boutique of Charleston Experience:

Britani: It was the best experience I could have imagined. Everyone was knowledgeable and helpful.

Kesha: Our situation was unique. We wanted to come in at the same time to try on dresses because we were coming in from out of town. We didn’t want to see each other’s dress though! Britani had her mom, sister in law, and grandma. She wanted the whole production of getting up on the pedestal and everyone giving opinions on the dresses! I wanted the opposite. My mom is deceased, and I did not bring anyone with me. I wanted to go into a room, try on dresses, and pick one. I believe what I told Janet was that I just wanted to get it over with. I was not looking forward to doing this without my mom. She was determined to make it a good experience for me, and she did. I cried, and I found a dress. I celebrated with Britani and my now family! Gown Boutique of Charleston made us feel comfortable and went out of their way to make our vision come alive. They found two dresses that complimented each other and complimented us! It was the first and last stop on our shopping journey that weekend. We cancelled all of our other appointments.

We think a lot of people spend way too much money on weddings. When planning, decide what is important to you not everyone else and plan around that. Originally, we wanted the big plantation wedding with the big oak trees with Spanish moss in the background. When we started getting estimates, we freaked out. The amount that a wedding like that would cost for us to invite people that we only talk to once a year was ridiculous. We are both nurses and own a home. We wanted a nice honeymoon, and we didn’t want to go into debt getting married. The Inn on Pamlico Sound had several packages to pick from. Because our guest booked the Inn for the whole weekend, we had complete run of the place. The owner said if we wanted to jump in the pool after our wedding, we could. That’s exactly what we did! Our friends and family stayed that whole weekend with us, and we had a blast. Our wedding and honeymoon in St. Lucia (with a private pool, hot tub, and butler) cost less than a wedding on a plantation that we originally looked into. The Inn planned it all and even had a preferred vendors list. We used some of their preferred vendors, and others we found on wedding wire.

Congratulations to Britani and Kesha! From start to finish, the two of you were a dream to work with. We love your positive attitudes and love for one another. Y’all are the sweetest!

LOVE IS LOVE.
