Nothing makes my job more exciting than really clicking with and enjoying working with a fabulous bride!  Not that all of my brides aren’t fabulous, but today’s featured bride is extra fabulous.

Anna Cousar

Anna had a friend that found her dress at The Gown Boutique of Charleston and decided to come take a look & see what she could find!  By the time she had visited me she already picked out invitations, formed a guest list, decided on a venue and had a fairly good idea of what kind of dress she would want.  I would like to mention this was a WEEK after getting engaged!

Everyone, meet the world’s most decisive bride, Anna Cousar.  {And her fiancée, Tyler Mechem}

Anna was kind enough to let me “interview” her for today’s blog! Enjoy!

C: How did you & your fiancée meet & was it love at first sight?

A: It was a hot, muggy but beautiful June night in 2006 in the great city of Charleston, SC. I was in college at College of Charleston and Tyler was working hard starting up a band in Charleston.  I was in my pajamas ready for a movie night but my friends insisted I go see a band play. I gave in. On the way to the venue, one of my friends said that I was “just Tyler’s type”. I had no clue who Tyler was or what my friend meant….That is until I met him that night.  Tyler and I said “goodnight” that evening knowing we had to see each other again.  Months would go by where Tyler would try to talk to me and ask me on a date. However, he was too shy and did not want to be rejected by whom he thought was “the prettiest girl in the world” (his words, not mine!).  He even wrote a song about his failed attempts at working up the courage to ask me on a date.  Some of you may have heard the song – “Break My Heart Tonight.” He still tells the story at shows. Little did he know that I was head over heels for him!  One September night (a long 3 months later!!), all the stars were aligned and we went on our first date.  It was more magical than a Nicholas Sparks book. :)  We even saw a shooting star on a moonlit beach!  After that night, we both knew (and later confessed to each other) that this was it…we had found “the one.”  I would definitely say love at first sight!  Nerves just got in the way…

C: So Tyler is a musician!  What exactly does he do?  Fill us in!

A: Tyler is the lead singer and acoustic guitar player for a local band, Crowfield.  He is a very talented songwriter and writes all of their songs.  They have opened for various artists that include: Darius Rucker/Hootie and the Blowfish, Rusted Root, Edwin McCain, Will Hoge, and NEEDTOBREATHE. They will be on the VH1 Best Cruise Ever with Train, Colbie Callait, Lifehouse, and The Script at the end of April.

C: When is the big day?  And where will everything be taking place?

A: July 2, 2011!  We are getting married at St. Philip’s Church and our reception is at McCrady’s.  We are new members of St. Philip’s Church and really feel at home there.  It is a very welcoming community.  As far as McCrady’s goes, they provide the best cuisine in Charleston, in my opinion.  They have two gorgeous rooms upstairs for bigger, private events.  Sunday Tuk and her team there have been so great to work with and we are really looking forward to the big day!

C: What do you love most about being engaged and what are you most looking forward to on your wedding day?

A: Engagement is such a happy time!  But we are more looking forward to marriage.  I am most looking forward to walking down the aisle and seeing Tyler at the end.  I just cannot wait to marry him!  Also, celebrating with our family and friends after the ceremony!

C: Have you decided on a photographer yet? {Second to the dress, my FAVORITE part of a wedding}

A: Yes! Sully Sullivan Photography.  Sully, or some know as David Sullivan, has a great eye and so many great, creative ideas.  I wanted to choose a photographer that was not known as just a wedding photographer.  He brings his own ideas to the table and never fails to create something amazing with a lot of meaning.

C: You are SO great at decision making, what advice do you have for other brides during the planning process?

A: I think planning a wedding in a short amount of time is almost a blessing.  Not to say there is not stress!  You have to make quick decisions.  If I had a yearlong engagement, I would be all over the place trying to decide.  My advice is to determine your budget ahead of time.  Research vendors and make sure to ask about taxes, services fees, etc. because those can be hidden, and amount to a lot.  Also, make decisions that are about you as a couple.  Do away with tradition, and make it about you!

Isn’t she fabulous?  Love her.  Thanks Anna!
