For a bride who isn’t afraid of color, this Jim Hjelm by Hayley Paige blush gown is a hit! What’s amazing is the way the color changes when it is in the sunlight. For our bride Krista, we were able to add custom straps that gave her the look she really wanted.
Q&A with the Bride
GBC: What did you love most about your blush gown?
Krista: I loved how unique it was. My gown had a floral pattern all over it and it was a blush pink color, which made it different from a typical wedding gown. Blush was really flattering to my skin color and although I never dreamed of getting married in a ball gown, I’m so glad I did. I honestly felt like a princess on my wedding day and it was a really fun experience.
GBC: What was your most memorable wedding dress shopping moment?
Krista: I really appreciated how patient the saleswoman was. It takes me a long time to make a decision and she was very accommodating and helpful throughout the entire visit. I would say the whole experience was memorable—how pretty the shop is, having someone help you change in and out of the dresses, standing in front of the floor length mirror and seeing what your family and friends thought of the dress, and champagne for you and your friends when you find the dress! It was a fantastic experience and dress shopping was one of my favorite parts of wedding planning.
GBC: What was the most memorable moment from your wedding?
Krista: Obviously the best part was marrying my husband, but while my husband and I danced during the last dance at our wedding, I remember thinking we did it! After a year and 3 months of planning and some hiccups leading up to the wedding and on the day itself, it had all come together. There was some relief in that it was all over (all the wedding planning, having everyone stare at you throughout the night, etc.), but I was also so happy with how much fun my wedding day had been and that all of the guests seemed to have had a genuinely good time. It couldn’t have turned out any better than it did.
GBC: Any advice you have for other brides or anything to share about your wedding planning experience?
Krista: I would tell brides to definitely get their dress altered so that it fits perfectly and comfortably the day of. And to also enjoy those alterations fittings. I LOVED my blush gown and knew my wedding day would fly by, so I really enjoyed every chance I got to wear my dress during my fittings.
My number one piece of wedding planning advice is to get a wedding planner and to think through everything ahead of time. All wedding days will have some things go wrong, it’s inevitable, but my day was largely stress free and I think that’s because I had a really good wedding planner (Margaret McKenzie) and I really tried to think things through ahead of time. I was super organized, which meant there weren’t too many surprises or kinks that really affected the wedding.
