What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you picture a Charleston wedding? Probably a plantation! A plantation wedding is definitely classic South Carolina style, and was the perfect venue choice for Jenna’s wedding. Of course, Jenna isn’t just a bride to us, she is also one of Gown Boutique of Charleston’s very own stylists! We are so happy for Jenna and her new husband Luke as they begin their journey as a married couple together.
After growing up together in a small town near Dayton, OH, Jenna and Luke reconnected in college in Kentucky. Eight years, a horse named Lucky, a move to Charleston, and a surprise engagement on Cumberland Island later, the two decided to tie the knot!
While planning the wedding, Jenna had a feeling that she had found her dream dress after seeing it on the runway at the Jim Hjelm by Hayley Paige Spring 2014 show. It is a stunning choice with an ivory tulle overlay and taupe lining. Her gown is detailed with a sequin embroidered bodice, fit-and-flare skirt, and chapel train. Then, our wonderful in-house alterations expert, Liz, crafted a unique illusion neckline with thicker tulle straps.
Jenna knew she would like to mismatch her bridesmaids dresses in order to best accommodate the varying tastes of each woman. To achieve this look, she chose a frosted violet color for all the dresses. Next, she chose to keep the material and length the same for each dress, and then she had each bridesmaid chose her own neckline. By doing this, Jenna gave her group a cohesive look that did not distract from her as the bride.
Jenna and Luke’s ceremony and reception were both held at the gorgeous Magnolia Plantation, where they were sorrounded with lush southern scenery. Her wedding gown was a Jim Hjelm by Hayley Paige design. Bridesmaids also purchased their dresses from Gown Boutique of Charleston, and were designed by Hayley Paige Occasions. The bridesmaids’ hair and makeup were styled by Canary Rock.
Pure Luxe Bride was Jenna’s fantastic planner, and her photography was by the extremely talented Sara Bee Photography. Videography was done by Dockhouse Digital. Jenna’s green and white floral arrangements were provided by Miele Events. The happy couple chose JB’s BBQ for their catering, bar service was provided by The Watering Hole, and the teacup cupcakes were by Swank Desserts.
One of our favorite details to Jenna and Luke’s celebration were the iron horseshoe favors that were hand forged by the groom himself! After shaping each horseshoe, Luke then stamped their wedding date on each one. A note attached told guests to set the horseshoes in their homes with the ends pointing up for good luck!
