A romantic, soft affair makes this organic wedding to die for!
After one of our sweetest brides tied the knot recently, we knew we wanted to feature her on our blog! Bride Catherine exchanged vows with her fiancé Bryan at a romantic, organic wedding at Old Wide Awake Plantation in Charleston, South Carolina, celebrating with friends and family afterwards.
Catherine’s gorgeous gown came together from the Martina Liana separates collection, where she chose a bodice and skirt, which were then sewn together to become one dress. The top showed off an embroidered pattern and was paired with an ivory tulle skirt. When asked what kind of aesthetic she was going for with her dress and overall event, Catherine replied that she “wanted something soft and romantic with an organic feel. Lots of greenery but with pops of eggplant as a nod to the fall season. Nothing too contrived or overdone.”
The look turned out beautifully and she couldn’t imagine anything more perfect. We are thrilled for Catherine and Bryan!
Q&A with the Bride:
GBC: What did you love most about your gown?
Catherine: I felt absolutely incredible in my gown! The delicate lace corset top conveyed a slightly sexy vibe, but the layers and layers of gorgeous french tulle in the skirt balanced out the sexiness with such elegance. From the moment I put it on, I felt beautiful, which was exactly what I wanted from my wedding gown. Probably the best part about choosing this dress was that I could eat and dance in it! Granted, the night flew by and I barely got the chance to nibble on anything, but I danced my heart out and had so much fun! I’m so glad that I chose a dress that was both gorgeous and comfortable.
GBC: What was your most memorable wedding dress shopping moment?
Catherine: I walked into Gown Boutique knowing that I wanted a simple, flattering, elegant gown. No rhinestones or bows for me. I just wanted to feel like myself, just more beautiful on my wedding day. I was prepared to spend days looking and hours trying on dress after dress to find the perfect gown. Thankfully, I found my dress after trying on just two. My amazing bridal stylist, Jess, had pulled a few things for me to look at and thought I might be pleasantly surprised by the Martina Liana separates. As soon as I saw myself in the Celia corset and Scout skirt, I couldn’t believe how beautiful I felt. I felt like me, just more glamorous. Because I wanted to be sure, I tried on a few more and actually went to another bridal shop, which was a total disaster. That shop threw dozens of dresses at me. All I could think was that I needed to go back to Gown Boutique and get my dress! Best decision I could have made. (Fun fact: my sister-in-law and her sister are also Gown Boutique Brides!)
GBC: What was the most memorable moment from your wedding?
Catherine: I’ll be forever grateful for the moment that Bryan and I shared during our first look. When Bryan turned around and saw me for the first time in my dress, he choked up and told me that I took his breath away. All I could do was smile because this was our moment, our day, and the beginning of our future together. I felt so beautiful and was so ready to marry my best friend.
GBC: Any advice you have for other brides or anything to share about your wedding planning experience?
Catherine: I knew that I wanted an organic, elegant wedding with lots of natural elements. We got married under the ancient oak tree at Wide Awake Park along the Stono River and had our reception at Old Wide Awake Plantation, so our wedding and most of our reception were outdoors. My Martina Liana separates dress made the perfect elegant complement to those natural elements. From butterflies landing on the flower girls’ flower crowns as they walked down the aisle to the fact that I can now call myself Mrs. Davis, it was such a magical day from start to finish.
Catherine’s photographer The Happy Bloom really took some great pictures of the happy couple!
Congrats to the happy, beautiful couple! Congrats, y’all!
